Bailey Nelson is a small team of inspired and dedicated people. We believe our software and technology is an important part of what will help us provide the most advanced and enjoyable eyewear experience in the world. We are seeking a driven Front End Developer with a wide knowledge base and the desire to continuously improve their skills. 

As an early addition to the development team, you will work closely with marketing teams, designers, and product owners to collaboratively build a solid foundation for what we hope to be the future of eye-care. You will be the subject matter expert in your field and your goals and opinions will shape the future of our websites. 

 

As a Front End Developer, your responsibilities will include designing, building, and deploying reliable and scalable web applications that will significantly affect customer experience and internal team performance. There will be plenty of opportunity for creativity and the freedom and respect to make important decisions about the products you build.

Who you are:

  • Passionate about coding clean HTML, CSS/SCSS & JS that is performant and cross browser compatible. You keep up to date with emerging technologies and the latest best practices. You are a quick learner who is always looking to improve.

  • You know your Sections from your Divs, your Buttons from your Anchor tags and when and why to use each

  • Minimum 3+ years industry experience in front-end development with a strong portfolio of existing projects

  • Experience with build pre-processors and build scripts (SCSS, Grunt, Gulp)

  • An eye for design and maintain graphic standards and branding throughout the UI

  • Be able to provide accurate time estimates on work for the project management team

  • Contributing to documentation (instructional, pitch and technical specification)

  • Discuss technical solutions & basic training with clients

  • A good understanding of Web Accessibility

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently within a small team

Highly regarded:

  • Experience with Shopify and Liquid or other ecommerce platforms

  • Experience with Git version control

  • Experience with the command line

  • Can understand and write PHP and or NodeJS

  • Can write vanilla JS without relying on frameworks such as jQuery

  • Solid understanding of Google Analytics and SEO

  • Wears glasses...well at least sunnies!
